Terms of Service

These terms cover BimmerLink, a Discord bot that connects a Minecraft server to a Discord server. They are short on purpose: it is a community tool, not a product you are buying.

Agreement

By using BimmerLink — sending a message in a channel it relays, running one of its commands, linking your accounts, or adding it to a Discord server — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the bot; you can still take part in the Discord server in channels it does not relay.

These terms sit alongside the Privacy Policy, which explains what information the bot handles.

What BimmerLink is

BimmerLink relays chat between a Minecraft Paper server and a Discord server, relays Minecraft server console output to a channel administrators set aside for it, and — for users who choose to link their accounts — keeps Minecraft permissions and Discord roles in step. It works alongside the EssentialsX Discord and EssentialsX DiscordLink plugins installed on the Minecraft server.

It is provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no paid tier and no purchase to make.

Who may use it

BimmerLink is used through Discord, so you must meet Discord's own age requirement — at least 13 years old, or older where the law where you live sets a higher minimum. You must also be in good standing with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which apply to everything you send through the bot just as they apply everywhere else on Discord.

Linking accounts

Linking a Discord account to a Minecraft account is voluntary and always starts with you. By linking, you confirm that both accounts are yours and that you are entitled to use them. Do not link an account belonging to someone else, and do not attempt to link in order to obtain permissions or roles that were not meant for you.

Once linked, roles and permissions are applied according to the mapping the server administrators configured. You can unlink at any time, and administrators can unlink an account on request or where the rules require it.

Acceptable use

Anything you send through BimmerLink is carried into another community and read by people who may not be in the place you sent it from. Please keep that in mind. Do not use the bot to:

• harass, threaten, defame or abuse anyone, in either community;
• send spam, advertising, scams, or bulk unsolicited messages;
• send unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
• impersonate another player, an administrator, or the bot itself;
• evade a ban, mute or other moderation action on either side of the link;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, exploit or gain unauthorised access to the bot, the Discord server, or the Minecraft server;
• automate interaction with the bot in a way that degrades it for other people.

Server administrators may set additional rules for their own community. Those rules apply to relayed chat too.

If you install BimmerLink

Server administrators who add BimmerLink to a Discord server agree that they:

• have the authority to add a bot to that server and to configure it;
• decide which channels are relayed, and accept that everything in those channels is carried into the Minecraft server;
• will make it clear to their community that relaying is happening, and where;
• will keep the bot's token and credentials secret;
• are responsible for moderating their own community and for complying with the law that applies to them, including any data-protection obligations they have towards their members;
• will not configure the bot to relay channels whose members would not reasonably expect it — private, staff-only or personal channels.

Availability

BimmerLink is a hobby project run on a community server. It is offered on a best-effort basis with no guarantee of uptime. It may go offline for maintenance, break after a Discord, Minecraft or plugin update, change in how it works, or be withdrawn entirely — with or without notice. Relayed messages may be delayed, duplicated or lost.

No warranty

BimmerLink is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. No promise is made that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be fixed.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of BimmerLink is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the bot — including lost messages, lost progress, lost roles or permissions, interruption of a server, or anything another user says through the relay. The bot carries messages; it does not author them, and the person who sends a message is responsible for it.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Suspension and removal

Server administrators may remove BimmerLink from their server at any time. The operator may withdraw or suspend the bot, or block a particular user or server from using it, where these terms are broken, where a platform requires it, or where the project simply comes to an end. You may stop using it at any time by unlinking your accounts and staying out of the relayed channels.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the bot changes. The current version always lives at this address, with the date at the top updated. Material changes will be announced in the Discord server where the bot is installed, and continuing to use it afterwards means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live still apply.
